Dear Parents and Carers,
A quick weekly catch up from Ms Wilden.
A lovely week in the academy this week. Year 11 have had their second week of mock exams . It has been a very intense week for them with exams both morning and afternoon. Their conduct throughout has been exemplary. I am so proud of the way they have shown such resilience and perseverance. Early indicators would show they have performed well in lots of areas.
Year 7 continues to have good attendance at the moment. I know that Mrs Eastwood is very proud that her Year group top the league every week. We have set the challenge to other year groups to beat them. Attendance in school is so crucial. With so much learning lost to covid we need to all be working together to ensure our children are in every day. Mr White will shortly be setting up a working party with parents to explore how we might support parents even more with ensuring their children are in school. If this is something you would like to be part of please do let us know.
Next week sees the launch of our student leadership groups. We had so many young people apply for the groups. We are excited by the work they will be doing over the remaining year to further improve Outwood Academy Ormesby.
Towards the end of term we have booked a theatre experience for Years 7-10, an external company will be in to work with our young people on the theme of gender and sex equality. We are also in the process of booking workshops with #show the red card to racism. This is all part of our drive to ensure equality for all groups at Outwood Academy Ormesby.
Please do not hesitate to contact us via the emails on our website if you wish to discuss any issues with your child. We are always keen to hear from you.
Have a lovely weekend
